Tanpura/Tambura is a string intrument used in both Carnatic and Hindustani Music. It is not played solo like a Sitar or Veena, but with a vocalist or another instrument, or in an ensemble. It creates a sonic canvas on which ragas are drawn. The south Indian tambura and the north Indian tanpura have slight differences even though they are majorly similar.

The features and details on the dolls vary according to the sizes, the bigger the size the better the detailing.
