Kathakali is the classical dance form originating from the state of Kerala. Traditionally, all roles (male and female) were played by males in this dance form. However, women have also been welcomed to learn this dance form in the recent times. The elaborate costumes, head-dresses and make-up that the Kathakali dancers wear is very fascinating. The female charachters generally have certain head-dresses but not face masks as such.
